Smart Drilling Solutions offers a LCM Recovery System that can combat wellbore losses while maintaing LCM concentrations. The system was awarded a US utility patent in December 2015 (Patent # US 9222329.) Trained personnel to properly manage the units are provided and portable power solutions are offered when needed or when rig generator capacity is already exceeded.
How does our LCM Recovery Vessel work?
The LCM Recovery Process works by effectively “bypassing” the linear motion shale shakers. Full well-flow is taken by the units and cuttings are processed and returned to the shakers later, while clean fluid and LCM returns to the active system.
What is the storage capacity of the tanks?
Tanks have a working capacity of ~175 bbl.
What flow rates can they handle efficiently?
Vessels have been tested at up to 800 GPM with 9 ppg mud weights and 600 GPM at 16 ppg weights respectively.
How are they powered and what listing are they?
Units are fully Class 1 Division 1 entirely. VFD controllers on each end of the tank provide seamless and smooth flow rate transitions to meet any changing needs immediately. Quantity: 2 of 480v 100 Amp bays are required to power the unit. Portable power generation can be provided if needed.
Do the LCM Recovery Units work in different mud systems?
Yes, units work in a variety of WBM, OBM and Synthetic Mud systems. LCM Recovery is simply dependent on density differnces between cuttings, LCM and active system mud weights.
What is the primary and secondary purpose of the LCM Recovery Vessels?
Primary is to mitigate or prevent drilling fluid losses and to limit LCM product consumption while doing so.
Secondary benefits are reduced dependence on Drying Shakers or Auxiliary Shakers, tolerable mud properties in regard to total system solids while running LCM and reduced chance of plugging MWD or string tools when using increased concernations of LCM.
Who runs and maintains the units?
LCM Recovery Vessels are operated by fully trained Smart Drilling Solutions personnel, onsite 24 hrs a day.
What field areas does Smart Drilling Solutions service?
Smart Drilling Solutions services the entire continental U.S. and will submit proposals to meet various needs and locations. See About Us for current and planned service locations.
